About Me
I’m Milla Mäkinen, singer, voice teacher, and yoga teacher based in Helsinki.
During my classical singing studies, something that should have been getting better was quietly getting worse. I had knowledgeable teachers, I worked hard, and I genuinely loved music. Yet my technique became increasingly tense and difficult to sustain, and I didn’t understand why.
The missing piece turned out to be the brain. My training had never accounted for how my particular nervous system works, and no amount of repetition can fix that.
Today I combine vocal training with an understanding of how the brain governs movement and coordination. My teaching is shaped by years of study, personal struggle, and a genuine belief that singing should feel good, and that when it doesn’t, there’s usually a reason worth finding.
